One thing you may not know about me, I love marketing. Like really love it. I love digging into the client journey, the way a brand or business speaks to their audience. I love following the process for how to show up for your perfect client. So I use my marketing background, and everything I love about marketing for this space, and I want to share it with you!
Now, this isn’t just for if you’re a blogger – if you’re a small business owner, photographer, shop owner, baker, have an Etsy or craft shop… this is for you!
As content creators of business owners, we spend a lot of time creating content. Whether it’s a video, a blog post, a Pinterest post, a TikTok video, or for Instagram, there is a lot of value in the content we make. It is how we build relationships with our audience or potential clients.
But think of how many times you spend all that time, and only share your content on 1 outlet, maybe 2. You all, this is me! I do this. I was spending hours on creating content, captions, hashtag research, shooting, editing, posting and engaging.. all to only share on Instagram. I’m not going to lie, Instagram is my favorite social media platform. It’s where I started growing my audience, and I genuinely enjoy when I open the app and see what’s happening with others in the community I built. When new platforms come around, or I realize there are more places I need to be showing up, its can be overwhelming.
Do I really need to post on all of those platforms?
The short answer – no.. you don’t have to. BUT, the truth is, on average it takes 9 quality touch points for someone to make a decision if they are going to buy from you or not. In my case, it isn’t always clients buying from me, but connecting with me, and interacting with my brand on social. If I want to connect with someone in 9 different quality ways, I can’t just show up on Instagram. I have to show up in other places too.
The idea of posting across the internet was overwhelming at first, so I created this REPURPOSING CONTENT CHECKLIST that lays out the different content avenues and where I should be posting. That way, I can go back and make sure my content is shared across more places then just my favorite – Instagram.
How to use this checklist
Use this checklist as a reminder that you can repurpose what you’ve created across multiple platforms.
It’s ok if you skip a few sometimes. This isn’t a list you have to stick to. It’s a reminder to use your audience, and continue to build across more than 1 platform. A piece of content could get very few views on one platform and go viral on another. You might get no sales on an instagram post, but sell out by sharing with your email list.
The importance is staying seen! You have the content, so keep sharing!
